Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help with the North Queensland floods so far. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
One of the challenges that communities face following a disaster is once the initial response has ended and many of the immediate support services are no longer available.
Recovery takes time and volunteers continue to be needed for support in the longer term. Local organisations and groups rely on long term support from volunteers who may perform various roles, ranging from basic clean up to care, comfort and personal support for affected communities.
Volunteering North Queensland works closely with local organisations in sourcing volunteers to help their longer recovery activities. You can register your interest at: vnq.org.au/volunteer/post-disaster/
