Now in its third year, Resilience Week encourages the community to prepare for disasters and learn more about what you need to know to survive an emergency.
It's all about being informed, making connections and taking action so we can bounce forward as a more resilient country.
As part of the celebrations last week, we proudly released an animation and short film on our Emergency Volunteering Community Response to Extreme Weather (EV CREW) service.
We also attended the Get Ready QLD Expo in King George Square. This interactive display of key services that assist with recovery following disaster events included organisations such as St John Ambulance, Australian Red Cross, Brisbane City Council and GIVIT.
612 ABC Radio Brisbane also celebrated, hosting their Emergency Ready Day outside their Southbank Studios. Volunteer organisations such as the State Emergency Service and Rural Fire Service were on display to showcase their role in protecting lives and property.

Further north, the Cairns Disaster Coordination Centre held a free community information session at the Stockland Earlville. Free resources were available to take home on how to prepare for the upcoming cyclone season.
