Who manages the Emergency Volunteering CREW service?
In the ACT, the EV CREW service is managed by a team of volunteers and staff within Volunteering ACT. Volunteering ACT is the State’s peak body for volunteering and our mission is to create an environment which promotes and sustains effective volunteerism.
What does the Emergency Volunteering CREW service do?
If you’re visiting this site, you may be interested in volunteering, and feel particularly compelled to help out your community following a disaster.
Perhaps the disaster has occurred. You’ve already ensured your family and friends are OK, and now you’re ready to help someone else. How do you do that? Where do you go? How do you make sure your skills are utilised in priority activities that will benefit the affected community.
Volunteering ACT’s team delivering EV CREW can address these questions so you can help where it's needed most.
Through our efficient and secure system, your registration will capture where, when and how you can best volunteer. During emergencies volunteering can turn into dangerous work if not properly organised or supervised. Volunteering ACT provides a service that is coordinated with lead agencies to identify volunteering opportunities that are effective and strategic. Volunteers are placed with approved organisations that meet best practice volunteer standards.
EV CREW is a referral service between volunteers and organisations involved in the disaster response and recovery.
There are a variety of tasks you may be asked to assist with in the response and recovery phase of an emergency as a registered volunteer.
